Frequently asked questions:
What do lessons cost and what am I paying for?
Lessons are $25 per 30 minutes of private lesson time, $50 for an hour. Occasionally, a teacher will end the lesson a couple of minutes early to communicate with the parents regarding a child or youth’s progress. When you book lessons, you are booking a time slot in the teacher’s day and are responsible to pay for this time slot even if you do not attend. See below for the re-scheduling policy. All lessons must be paid for before the lesson day.
What if I only want to take a few lessons, or book just one to meet the teacher?
No problem, we are happy to book a first lesson to meet the teacher. If you really are just looking for a few lessons, they must be scheduled around the
teacher’s yearlong lesson students. Make-up lessons are not available for occasional lessons or short term bookings.
What if I break my arm?
In the event that you are injured in a manner that makes playing impossible, let us know and we will put your lessons on hold until you are healed or you can use those weeks to gain a greater understanding of music theory which will benefit you no matter what instrument you play. While we do not refund lessons, they may be transferred to someone else.
What if I wish to stop before the end of term?
If you decide to stop before the end of the term just give us 30 days notice and your final 4 lessons will be covered by your original deposit.
What if I have to miss a lesson [re-scheduling and make-up lessons]?
As a school that employs over a dozen teachers, it is important that we have a clear policy that is reasonable for both the students and the teachers.
We understand that life can be complicated people get sick, have other things come up or take vacations. When you pay ahead each month, you are committing to the teacher for all [typically 4 or 5] paid time slots in that month. If you are unable to attend, give us 24 hours’ notice and provided your account is maintained paid up to date [ie both all lessons in the current month and a 4 week deposit has been prepaid], as a courtesy, we can allow a makup-lesson on another day/time to however it is your responsibility to arrange the extra time, it will not be added on the end; make-up lessons cannot be re-scheduled again.
